Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 July 2026
This policy explains what happens to the information you give us when you apply for a course at Om Shanti Om Yoga Ashram, Baba Balak Nath Road, Tapovan, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand 249192, India. We are the data controller for that information.
If you have a question about anything here, write to omshantiomyoga5@gmail.com or message +91 97621 35058.
What we collect
When you send the application form on this website, we receive:
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your name | To reply to you personally |
| Email address | To send our reply, course details and, if you go ahead, joining instructions |
| Phone or WhatsApp number and country dialling code (optional) | To answer faster on WhatsApp, if you give it |
| Country | To advise on visas, flights and arrival |
| Course, preferred start date, accommodation preference | To check availability on those dates |
| Years of practice, and whether you hold a 200 hour certificate | To confirm the course suits your experience. The 300 hour course requires a completed 200 hour certification |
| Anything you write in the message box | To answer your question. Please only include health or dietary details you are comfortable sharing |
| Whether you ticked the consent box | To record that you agreed to be contacted |
We also record automatically, when the form is sent:
- Your IP address, the date and time, and the page you arrived from
- Any campaign tags in the web address you arrived on, such as
utm_sourceor a Google click identifier (gclid), so we know which advertisement your enquiry came from
Health information
If you tell us about an injury, a pregnancy, an allergy or a medical diet, that is sensitive personal data. We use it only to advise you about the course and to brief the kitchen or your teacher. You do not have to give it to us at the application stage, and you can tell us on arrival instead.
Why we are allowed to use it
- Your consent — you tick the box before sending the form, and you can withdraw it at any time.
- To take steps before a contract — answering your enquiry and holding your place on a course.
- Our legitimate interest — keeping records of enquiries and understanding which advertisements bring genuine students.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information, or trade or rent it to anyone.
- We do not send marketing newsletters unless you ask us to.
- We do not publish your name, photograph or review without asking you first.
Who else sees it
Your application is read by the ashram's own staff. It is also handled by the companies that run our website and email. We do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Where your information goes
The ashram is in India, so your information is stored and read in India. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, that is a transfer outside your home region to a country without a UK or EU adequacy decision. By sending the form you consent to that transfer so that we can answer you.
Cookies and measurement
This site sets no cookies until you choose. When you first arrive you are asked whether to allow analytics and advertising cookies.
- If you decline — we still count the visit, but without cookies and without anything that identifies you.
- If you accept — Google Analytics and Google Ads set cookies that let us see which advertisement led to an application. You can change your mind at any time using the link at the bottom of any page.
Google's own handling of that data is described in Google's Privacy Policy.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for 24 months, because students often write once and then come a year or two later. Records of students who attend a course are kept longer, as certification records.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- send you a copy of what we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your information
- stop using it, or send it to you in a portable form
- withdraw your consent, which stops us contacting you further
Write to omshantiomyoga5@gmail.com and we will act within one month. If you are in the EEA or UK and you are unhappy with how we have handled it, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
Our courses are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top of this page.
